Circuit Proud To Support Calderdale Councils Our Stars Awards

At Circuit Electrical Testing, we recognise the importance of recognising and rewarding the efforts of those who make our business a success. So we were delighted to be invited to sponsor the ‘Unsung Hero’ Award for this year’s ‘Our Stars’ Awards staged by Calderdale Council, marking the achievements that demonstrate the Council’s values and priorities.

We have been the nominated electrical testing suppliers for Calderdale Council since January 2014 and were pleased and proud to be involved with the event. We also felt that the category was particularly apt for us in view of our very own mascot and Superhero, Mr Circuit!

Held at Halifax’s Victoria Theatre, the event was attended by Calderdale Council staff, including Chief Executive, Leader, Directors and guests, as well as nominees and sponsors, and involved both individual and team awards across six award categories, using both nomination and shortlisting formats.

Our category, Unsung Hero, was won by the Council’s Support Planners Dawn Bond and Louise White, for their continuing and selfless support to people of Calderdale who are living with dementia, and their carers. Both Louise and Dawn are Dementia Friends and volunteer their services in their own time to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Dawn happily sacrifices her lunch break on Mondays to volunteer at the ‘Singing for the Brain’ session in the Upper Valley, and Louise chose to reduce her hours at work to allow her to volunteer at the Alzheimer’s cafe on Fridays. These two people give their time freely, and say that their greatest reward is seeing the people smile. Many congratulations to Dawn and Louise, we’re proud they won our category!

The event also gave an opportunity for Calderdale Council to showcase the year in review, setting a vision and ambition for the future.
